# Well Stockd > Well Stockd is a kitchen inventory app for home cooks. You record what is in your > fridge, freezer and pantry; it gives fresh food an estimated expiration date, > reminds you before food goes off, shows which recipes you can cook right now from > what you already own, plans the week from your own stock, and builds a shopping > list of only what you are missing. Built and operated independently in the United States, with no advertising in the app and no outside investment. Pro subscriptions and optional purchases of extra AI usage support the free tier. Some shopping and storage links may earn a disclosed affiliate commission. Affiliate links are labeled, and the core app works without buying through them. Grocery connections are optional. Where a supported connection is available, you authorize it on the retailer's own website; Well Stockd does not collect your grocery password or bank login. Your inventory still comes from items you enter or review. ## What makes it different - **Availability is computed against real inventory.** Recipe matching runs on what you actually have, not on a wish list or a preference profile, and a recipe you own every ingredient for is labeled "can make now" in the app. - **Fresh-first urgency ranking.** Items are surfaced by how soon they will spoil, aging from the date an item was last restocked from empty, thawed, or explicitly marked fresh, so the thing closest to going bad is the thing you are shown first. - **Reminders before food goes off.** Email on the day or up to a week ahead, at the hour you choose, with optional notifications on your phone or computer. On Sundays, a short email suggests up to three dinners that use what is running out. - **Substitutions are part of matching.** A recipe still counts as makeable when a missing ingredient has a viable swap you already own, along a defined ladder of fresh, alias, frozen, canned, then substitute. - **The planner reads from stock**, and the shopping list is a gap list. - **Store carts you review first.** Well Stockd matches the shopping list to Walmart products. You check the matches and quantities, then Walmart opens with the cart filled for pickup, delivery or shipping, and you check out there. - **Leftovers count.** Save what is left after cooking as fridge or freezer portions, put them on the plan for another night, and get a thaw reminder the evening before. - **Ask ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini about your kitchen.** Connect Well Stockd to the assistant you already use. It can read your kitchen, recipes and plan, tell you what you can cook, and add items to your shopping list. Any change to your kitchen waits until you confirm it inside Well Stockd. You sign in on wellstockd.com, so the assistant never sees your password, and disconnecting in Settings stops its access. Gemini works with US personal accounts, in English. - **Pick for me, with AI (Pro).** In the planner, it suggests a week of meals from the recipe catalog and your own recipes, uses what is already in your kitchen first, and says why it chose each one. An optional grocery budget adds up what you still need to buy, rounded to real package sizes, and lists anything it has no price for. It picks only real recipes, and your diet rules are checked again before anything is saved. - **Stock from a photo (Pro).** Photograph a fridge shelf or the pantry and review the list of what it can see before anything is added. It guesses no dates or allergens from the photo. Receipt photos stay Free. - **Household sync (Pro).** Up to six people share one kitchen, plan and shopping list on their own devices, rather than a shared login. One Pro subscription covers everyone invited. - **Hands-free voice cook mode (Pro).** It reads steps aloud, answers questions, runs timers and logs the cook, so you can cook with your hands full. ## Pricing Free, permanently: - The full catalog of more than 3,800 recipes, with every filter - "Can make now" against your real inventory, and what the closest recipes are missing - Kitchen inventory with estimated expiration dates - Expiry reminders by email and on your phone - Barcode batches, receipts and a few voice entries a day, all reviewed before saving - Shopping list with prices, aisle order and offline use - Walmart cart you review before it is sent - Step-by-step cook mode, several recipes at once - Leftovers, freezer portions and used-or-tossed tracking - Favorites, smart substitutions and diet rules - 2 custom recipe lists and unlimited personal recipes - Export your data or delete your account any time Pro, $7.99 a month or $79 a year, adds: - The hands-free cooking assistant - More voice entries - Planning up to eight weeks ahead, a month view and saved weeks your household can reuse - Household sharing: one kitchen, plan and shopping list for the whole family - Substitution modes, your own pairs and blocking - Unlimited recipe lists - Pick for me, with AI - Stock from a photo Every confirmed account gets 7 days of full Pro, no card needed. Storage windows are planning estimates, not safety guarantees. Articles carry an editorial pen-name byline that is disclosed as such rather than implying credentials. Where official sources genuinely disagree, both numbers are named along with the conditions each assumes. Cooked rice is the standard example: FSIS's general leftovers rule and FoodKeeper's item entry differ.
