A pantry and fridge inventory that keeps up with your kitchen
Well Stockd is a free kitchen inventory app for your pantry, fridge and freezer, with no limit on items. Add food by barcode, receipt photo or voice, and cooking a recipe takes what you used back out.
Free to start · no item limit · works in any phone’s browser
Fridge, freezer and pantry, with amounts
Add items by name, amount and unit, and file them under fridge, freezer or pantry. Search, sort, change several at once, and undo any change. You can add common pantry staples from a ready-made list instead of typing them one by one. Most fresh food gets an estimated use-by date, and what needs using first rises to the top.

Ways to fill it that aren’t typing
Scan barcodes one after another and review the batch once. Well Stockd looks up the name, brand and package size, and you can type the digits when a code won’t scan. Photograph a receipt, or forward one to your own Well Stockd address: Walmart order and delivery emails, receipt photos and PDFs all work, from up to five addresses you verify. An order waits as “ordered, not delivered yet” until it arrives.
You can also say what you see, or paste a list of up to 200 lines. Whichever you use, everything comes in as a list you check before it’s saved.
Cooking keeps the count honest
When you finish cooking, Well Stockd shows what the recipe used. Correct anything that’s off, confirm, and the kitchen updates, with an undo if you change your mind. Save what’s left as portions in the fridge or freezer. After shopping, Put away moves what you bought into the kitchen.

Used, tossed or just a mistake
When food leaves the kitchen, say whether you used it, tossed it or are fixing an entry. Partial amounts count, so “used half” leaves the right amount behind. Your stats count only what you marked used or tossed, and they show money only for food with a price from a receipt.

One inventory for the whole household
On Pro, create a household and share its code. Up to six people use the same kitchen, plan and shopping list, each with their own account on their own phone, and a change one person makes shows up for everyone. On Free, you can share a separate shopping list with one other person.
What the inventory is for
Every recipe is checked against it, so you see what you can make now and what each of the others is missing. When something runs out it lands on the shopping list, and the list can go to a Walmart or Kroger cart after you check it.
What’s free and what’s Pro
Free covers the whole inventory with no item limit, and every way of filling it and keeping it right: batch barcode scanning, receipt photos and forwarded receipts, a few voice entries a day, pasted lists, the update after cooking and used-or-tossed stats. It also includes two shopping lists, a shared list with one other person, and an export of everything as one ZIP file. Receipt photos use a monthly AI allowance.
Pro adds one shared kitchen for up to six people, stocking from a photo of a fridge shelf or the pantry, more voice entries and unlimited shopping lists. Pro is $7.99 a month or $79 a year, and every account gets 7 days of Pro free when it confirms its email, with no card.
What it doesn’t do
- It doesn’t import purchases from a store account, loyalty card or bank. Receipts come in by photo or forwarded email.
- Order emails are recognized from Walmart. For other stores, forward or photograph the receipt itself.
- Food lives in three places: fridge, freezer and pantry. There are no custom locations or second homes.
- The kitchen needs a connection. Only the shopping list works offline.
- There’s no App Store or Google Play app. It’s a web app you can add to your home screen.
Questions
What is the best free pantry inventory app?
The one you’ll keep up to date. Inventory apps tend to be abandoned when adding food takes too long, so look first at how each one gets food in. Well Stockd’s free plan has batch barcode scanning, receipt photos and voice entry, with no item limit. Our comparison of pantry inventory apps sets out the trade-offs.
Is there an app to keep track of what’s in my fridge?
Yes. Well Stockd keeps a list of what’s in your fridge, freezer and pantry, with amounts and estimated dates, and checks every recipe against it. It’s free and runs in the browser on any phone.
Can two people share a pantry inventory?
Yes, on Pro: up to six people share one kitchen, each with their own account. On Free, two people can share a separate shopping list.
Do I have to scan or type every item?
No. Batch scanning, receipt photos, forwarded receipts, voice and pasted lists are all faster than typing, and you don’t have to start with everything. Start with the fridge, where food spoils fastest, and fill in the pantry over the week.
Can I bring my pantry over from another app?
Not as a file. NoWaste and Pantry Check don’t document an export, so restock by scanning the same barcodes in a batch or reading a receipt. Recipes are different: Well Stockd imports export files from ten recipe apps, including Paprika and Plan to Eat.
