Shared grocery list app with widget: which ones have one

Which shared grocery list apps have a home screen widget, what each widget does, and a plain answer on why Well Stockd, a web app, has none.

Well Stockd has no home screen widget: it's a web app, and web apps can't make phone widgets today. If you want a shared grocery list app with widget support, AnyList, OurGroceries, Bring!, Listonic and Google Keep (Android only) have one. This page says what each widget does.

A widget earns its place on a grocery list in one situation: you're standing in a store or a kitchen and want to see the list, tick something off, or add an item without opening an app. Not every widget does all three. Some only show a count and open the app when you tap. So the useful question isn't whether a shared grocery list app has a widget. It's what you can do from it.

Which shared grocery list app with a widget should you pick?

Here's what each app documents, checked in October 2026. Check your own phone before you commit, because widgets vary by platform and app version.

What does the AnyList widget do?

AnyList has the most complete widget set of the apps here. Its help center says the widgets give you access to your lists and meal plan from the home screen, and you can also add them to the iPhone Lock Screen and Control Center (AnyList Help).

The list widget lets you view and cross off items without opening the app. For a single-list widget on iPhone, you choose which list it shows and whether tapping an item crosses it off or opens the app to that item. On Android, tapping an item crosses it off and a + button opens the add-item field. A multiple-lists widget keeps your most-used lists a tap away, and a meal plan widget shows what's for dinner tonight, or the next few days in the large size (AnyList blog).

Two iPhone extras are worth knowing about. Lock Screen widgets show the top items on a list (AnyList Help). On iOS 18, a Control Center control opens the add-item bar for the list you pick, or opens the barcode scanner (AnyList Help). Android widgets need AnyList for Android v1.6 or later.

What does the OurGroceries widget do?

OurGroceries documents widgets on both phone types. On iPhone, a widget can show a single shopping list, or the names and item counts of several lists, and in larger sizes a button lets you add or scan an item. It also has a Lock Screen version. On Android, the widget shows a list, you tap items to cross them off, and you tap a plus at the top to add a new item (OurGroceries user guide).

If you want one free app with a home screen widget on both iPhone and Android, this is the plainest option. It's free with ads, and the app also sorts by category or aisle (App Store listing).

Does Google Keep have a grocery list widget?

On Android, yes. You can pin a single list, show a collection of notes, or add a quick-capture widget for starting a new note or list. Ticking a checkbox on a pinned list updates it without opening Keep, and a small collaborator icon shows when the list is shared (Google Keep Help, Google Workspace Updates).

On iPhone, Google's own help page labels the home screen widget as Android only, and a reply on Google's community forum from August 2025 says the same (Google Docs Editors Community). If you're weighing it, our guide to the Google Keep grocery list covers setup, sharing and where it falls short.

What about Bring!, Listonic and Cozi?

Bring! announced iPhone widgets in 2021. The shopping list widget shows the number of items to buy and opens your list when you tap it, and a separate recipe widget shows a recipe with a tap to import its ingredients. They come in small and medium sizes with light and dark mode (Bring! blog). Its App Store listing still mentions the iOS widgets, and its Google Play listing doesn't mention a widget.

Listonic lists a home widget among its features and says it gives you your lists from the phone's home screen (Listonic). The page doesn't say what you can do from it, so install the app and see.

Cozi started as a family calendar, and its widgets follow that. For the wider picture, see our family organizer app page. Its 2016 post announced three Android widgets for shopping lists, to-do lists and the calendar (Cozi blog). The iPhone widget added in 2024 shows the date and your next upcoming event, and it's for Cozi Gold subscribers (Cozi blog). That's a calendar widget, not a list widget.

Why doesn't Well Stockd have a widget?

Well Stockd is a web app that installs to your phone's home screen, with no store app. Home screen widgets are a native-app feature. Progressier's help center says plainly that web apps can't create traditional home screen widgets on iOS or Android, though they may someday (Progressier). We checked the app itself and found no widget in it either.

What it has instead is close but not the same thing:

  • An installed icon that opens the app full screen, like a native app.
  • An idle kitchen panel for a tablet on the counter or fridge door that shows the time, tonight's dinner and what's left to buy.
  • A shopping list you can share with another person by link. They create an account, and you can both add items and check them off.

None of that puts your list on your home screen the way a widget does. If a widget is what you need, pick one of the apps above and don't let us talk you out of it.

Where Well Stockd does more is what sits behind the list. Items arrive on it when you run low, finish cooking or plan a meal, and it knows what's in your fridge, so you stop buying a second block of cheese. Sharing a whole kitchen across a household is part of Pro, and the shopping list itself is free. See grocery list apps that know what you already have for how that compares.

How do you choose a shared grocery list app with a widget?

Start from the phones in your house, then from what you want to do without opening the app.

Two things matter more than the widget itself. The first is sync: a widget that shows a stale list is worse than none, so test by adding an item on one phone and watching the other. The second is whether the list reflects your kitchen. A widget makes a list quicker to open. It doesn't make it right. If you keep buying duplicates, the fix is knowing what you own, which is the point of keeping a kitchen inventory.

If you already share a list with a partner, shared grocery list apps for couples and one kitchen, two phones cover the setup in more detail, and voice grocery list apps cover adding items without typing. To see the inventory side, add three foods from your fridge and see what you can cook. Try it free.
